Find out how many calories can you eat a day and still lose kilo's! Find out here!!!

Hi Peeps!

Founds some great info that will help us with our calorie intake.... Plus I also found a few answers to the calories we burn just doing the siple housework chores everyday!

To find how much you can eat and still lose weight use this:

To calculate your daily calorie limit in order to lose weight, follow this formula. Take your target weight, multiply it by 4.35 and add 655. Take your height in inches and multiply it by 4.32. Take your age and multiply it by 4.7. Subtract the age total from the height total, then add the new total to your weight total. This number represents the amount of calories you can consume each day and still drop pounds

So for me the formula works like this,

Weight:  My target weight is 65kgs x 4.35 + 655 = 947.5
Height:   My height in inches is 65inches x 4.32 = 280.8
Age:       And I am 27, x 4.7 = 126.9

280.8 - 126.9 = 153.9 + 947.5 = 1101.4

In total, I can eat 1101.4 calories (or 4625.88 kjs) in 1 day and still lose weight!

Calories converted to Kilojoules here => richardjackson.org/calorie.html

*******************************************************************

Just fill in the blanks to find your own daily calorie/kj limit!!! Too Simple!!!

Weight:  My target weight is ________kgs x 4.35 + 655 = ________

Height:   My height in inches is ________inches x 4.32 = ________

Age:       And I am ________, x 4.7 = ________

(h)________ - (a)________ = _________ + (w)________ = _________ calories

In total, I can eat ________ calories (or _______kjs) in 1 day and still lose weight.

Oh I hate Math! Haha! Sorry, but I promise to try this tomorrow. Got really tired from the gym. But it's good when I feel tired because it means it would be worth it someday. Good night all. Yeah, will sleep late again tonight but it's okay. Tomorrow is a weekend, no need to wake up early. Lol.

Hi Chunkybums

You do realise that you can eat more calories if you do exercise? Also I notice you didn't include walking on your list.

Oh yes Belle... I just found this info while looking up how to convert calories to kjs and back the other way too. I was looking up what an average stay at home mum like me with not a lot of time to exercise would be working of in calories just doing the housework. I'm pretty sure when I was on Jenny Craig years ago (after my first bub) that my daily kj allowance was either 7000kjs or 7500kjs... Not sure...But I was breatfeeding then too... (not now) so I assume it would be a little less. I have been sticking to the allowance of about 4800kjs a day for the last few days... and have lost 1.4kgs and its staying off so far too. I haven't done much exercise other than running after the kids and housework... but that will all change when school goes back on Tuesday... So I may even up the allowance a bit and exercise more too. I really just wanted to see how much I am actually able to eat and still lose weight... give myself a good limit. I thought I was eating well till I've been adding up all the kj's I was eating before! Gahhh... Maybe the A/S will help too (when it finally comes).
Hope it arrives MONDAY!

Hi Chunkybums

I don't think 4800kj is enough, I get really dizzy if I don't eat regularly. I had the same problem as you when my daughter was younger and got up to 105 kilos. I had gallstones and a hernia which I had to have operations for. I was told by the Doctor to loose weight (which I did) but I still need to loose more weight. I'm scared of getting sick again.

Yes I also had the GallStones and had to have my gallbladder removed. Not nice hey...
I was 78kgs before I had my first bub then after the birth I got up to 93kgs the lost it again once my baby was 14 months old down to bout 80kgs again (used Jenny craig) than I fell preggas again when he was 15mths old...and after that birth I got up to 92 again... then lost it down to 80 by the time she was 15mths and fell preggas AGAIN and yep you guessed it BACK up to 92 again then lost it down to 81 kgs had opperation for gallstones, and was preggas for the 4th time within a mth of the op! lol...SO after having my last baby (tis DEFINATELY my last, sent hubby to got get freaking fixed! LOL) I chucked on that weight again and was at 93.5kgs at the end of july this years... Man was I disappointed... I have to lose it all ALL over again... I am currently 90.4kgs and I know it takes a while for my body to "Let go" of the baby weight I gain, cause everytime the baby thats just been born when it gets to 3mth old I really start to try and get it off and NOTHING budges... Abbie (my last bub) is nearly 7mths old now, and all the other babies got to about 11mths b4 a started to rapidly lose my unwanted weight... and I reckon it woulda kept coming off down to a reasonable weight if I haden't kept getting preggas all over again! lol So this time I am determinded to finally get it off and KEEP IT OFF. The sooner the better, but as I said I dont think I'm gonna get anywhere too fast right now. HOWEVER, in the last couple days...I've been sticking to this 4800kjs a day...(no I dont think its nearly enuff for ME either!!!!) and/but it seems to be getting me somewhere... I have been hovering at 91.8kgs for the past month even on the A/S and C/C I was getting nowhere... I am flipping starved! LOL... But I AM eating when I NEED to... Just really reteaching my body to have only what I need... Normally I just eat and snack and eat and dont even realize I am doing it!...LOL... Terrible. So now I'm just being extremely careful... but when school goes back and I am exercising more I will need to up my food intake. Cause it's barely enuff now!

hey chunkybums, I think the key is eat regularly even more often than you would think would be ok but make sure you are only eating good things load your plate full of veggies with just a small portion or meat.... i know you probably heard it all before but I snack often and my meals are very large but I have little saturated fat in my diet and lots of greens to fill my plate lol I figure if my main meals are huge with lots on my plate am less likely to go for something after that is bad for me

well thats what I was doing pixi1971... and it wasn't working for me =Z I do agree tho 4800kjs a day is almost torcher...!!! lol... Keeps me thinking bout the unfortunate countries and all the hungry children out there... I am feeling pretty tired again too (since dropping my kj intake and having no A/S to rely on) but I'm only doing this to drop just a lil bit... I PROMISE! =) Although if you dont see a post from me for any longer than 24hrs, I've probably fainted! bahahahaha and been taken to hospital! lol... *jokes*

Hey everyone, that seems right. they say if you consume less than 1500 calories for a woman and 1800 calories for a man per day it is impossible to keep your body weight.

BUT!

in saying that, they say in order to lose weight you are to burn off more calories than you consume per day.

so either really. or both. eat less than the indicated calorie intake and work your butts off:)

thats my plan :) and my acaislim isnt even here yet, almost 2 months waiting now!

Thanks for this ChunkyBums!! I've just been having a look (procrastinating at work!) at how much calories are in certain foods on the Calorie King website(http://www.calorieking.com.au) and might give this a bit of a go... try and control my eating habits too.

Yeah, my biggest problem is eating when I'm bored so that's the biggest challenge. I've tried no carb diets (I'm a carb addict!) in the past and it's the same thing for the first few days while your body goes through its withdrawal then you're ok as you adjust. Sounds like it's really working well for you so far anyway, ChunkyBums - I guess a big part is just being aware of the types of foods we're putting into our body!

I get addicted to sugar! Seems after I have my babies, my hormones play nasty and make me crave anything with LOADS of sugar... at one point I was having like... 7-8 pieces of white bread a DAY, spread with that dairy soft butter and topped with apricot jam! =P SO NAUGHTY! This time it was Apricot Yogurt Top Muesli Bars!.. like a pack a day! bahahaha... I'm so bad! LOL And I get hooked on it... so hard to stop!!! But I've broken the addiction now... time for action!!!

Ah gotta love food addictions! Along with carbs, I used to be a can of Coke and a chocolate bar a day kinda gal too - the withdrawal headaches terrible. Breaking that habit was tough! But it's so nice to know we're not alone and if others can break their nasty habits then we can break our own!

Wow ChunkyBums that's a pretty impressive junk food addiction you've got there. I used to take drugs and drink copious amounts of alcohol and smoke ciggies and I've managed to give up all my addictions. I've turned into a bit of a health nut now, I don't know what happened. I still gotta get rid of this fat gut though.

@ Belle,

I can relate to your situation, I have given up cigarettes and drugs as well! The smoking I found the hardest to give up, especially when I drink alcohol, so I don't do tat much any more.  As soon as the smoking stopped, the weight showed it's ugly head :( Good luck, we all have bad addictions, but we are all here to do something about it, so we are destined to succeed smile.gif

I'm addicted to iced coffee at the moment and I don't think I can give it up. It's my one indulgence really I've given everything else up. Maybe I should take up rock climbing or something that gets the adrenaline going.

It is a very nice post Chunky ! And I realised that we are at the same age lol.

I tried the formula and my daily intake to lose weights is 979.7 calories. However, I wonder if this is the recommended intake for a day :(.

littlepig that is no where near enouh calories a day to be healthy...you would eventually get sick from not enough energy as calories equals energy

I think that might be the amount of calories you can have for your dinner....

I have been writing down and calculating all the food I'm eating in kjs and then deducting the amount I burn during exercise.

So at the moment I'm having somewhere between 6000 and 6500 kj a day and I am loosing weight.
