The Start To a New Me!

Hi everyone!

I am new to the forums. I have had the acai slim tablets for a few months but haven't used them consistently and haven't been partnering them with healthy eating habits and exercise so I didn't get any positive results.

For the past 5 days I have begun my new health mission! I have been/will be taking acai slim everyday as well as eating healthy and exercising.

My starting weight on Sunday 8th January was 124.1kg. I have a lot to lose but am finally determined to make it happen! My first weigh-in will be this Sunday 15th January.

I've read over some of the other users progress in the forum and am impressed! I'm looking forward to keeping up-to-date with everyones' successes :)

Hey everyone! Thankyou so much for the warm welcome!

I am BEYOND excited right now! I just had my Week 1 weigh in and lost 4KGS!!! I've been very strict on myself this week.. I've been drinking a tonne of water with fresh lemon juice and only eating small portions of steamed veggies (and of course acai slim).. Wow.. I'm so excited for next week's result. I hope you all had fantastic weeks too!

Starting weight: 124.1kg
Week 1 weight: 120.1kg
Total weight loss: 4kg

Fantastic result for your first week! Well done, don't be too strict with yourself all the time though, think of it as a lifetime change in habits, not a diet, it helps keep you going!

Thanks Dinkidi! Yep this week I'm allowing myself to eat legumes as well (just had an awesome chickpea curry), and then next week back to a week of just veggies. I'm mostly vegetarian anyway so it's not too hard for me. My goal is to stay away from bread, pasta, rice & dairy as much as I can.

Good things to stay away from, that's how it's been working for me too, with increased protein

I know what you mean about not telling anyone about your weight...I can say now that I was 103 kg at my heaviest but I would never of said it because I think I was in denial. Just keep doing what your doing and the weight will keep coming off week after week until you reach your goalsmile

It's sounds better when you say I used to weight 103 kilos and now I'm down to 68 kilos.

Thanks everyone! My Week 2 weigh-in is tomorrow.. it will be a much smaller loss than my first week but a loss all the same!

Belle - CONGRATS! That is absolutely amazing! Over what time span did you do this? My first goal is to reach 75kg by July 1.. I need to average a 1.96kg loss every week to get there..I'm sure some weeks I'll lose less and other weeks I'll lose more but I'm so excited to start shrinking!!

It's taken me years. I was 103 about 6 years ago and managed to get down to 98 by Sept 2010. I started using acai in sept 2010 so it's taken me quite a while. I have a very sluggish metabolism so Its been very hard for me and sometimes I go backwards but I've never given up:)

Hope that helps.

Week 1 weight: 120.1kg (4kg loss)

Hey Belle - that's very inspirational! Even though I am "aiming" for a quick loss, in reality I would still be very happy with myself to lose as much as you did in a year and 4 months. It's the fact that you are constantly improving yourself that is sooo good. The last year I've been stuck in this rut, putting on weight and not having the motivation to change anything. It feels so good to have finally had the lightbulb go off in my head again, and to lose almost 5kg in 2 weeks is a great start. It has proved to me it's not rocket science to lose weight - just consistency and dedication. I am sure, like you, some weeks I will go backwards but I believe it's all part of the journey. Being healthy, to me, is not about being perfect but instead I think it's about not letting yourself go too far backwards before charging forward again. I hope you are having an amazing time being 68kg - I dream for the day!!

First of all that's fantastic that you lost another 900gm. It sounds like you're on he right track to me...it is hard staying focused sometimes but I think when you're getting support from other people and having to weigh in every week also helps.

I find that eating less and exercising more is the best way to lose weight. Yes your body can plateau but that usually takes a while for that to happen especially if you have a lot of weight to lose.

When that happens I just play around with my diet for a while until I start losing again.

Thankyou for all the lovely comments! BadmintonPlayer.. weight loss truly is the best gift a girl can give herself! I am already feeling so much lighter and brighter. It was quite a funny week I spent with friends - I said no to pizza, tim tams, anzac biscuits, unhealthy breakfast options at a restaurant and stuck to my veggies veggies veggies! I was quite proud of myself for sticking to my guns even when out and about in the world with people who can indulge in unhealthy foods.

I've been checking my weight almost every day this week and this morning I was so happy to see 117.6kg on the scale! That's 1.6kgs lost so far this week and 6.5kgs in total. My official Week 3 weigh-in is this Sunday. I am assuming I will fluctuate around this number for the next couple of days so I don't mind if I don't see any more loss (or even maybe a little gain as my body was literally empty when I weighed myself this morning thanks to my toilet trip) on Sunday. If I somehow do have a further loss however I will be jumping for joy.

I am starting to follow a lot of the rules from Tim Ferriss's book The Four Hour Body and last Sunday tried calorie spiking (eating more, unhealthy foods than I normally would). I tried this because I've been doing a lot of researching and it seems like constantly being in a calorie deficit (which I definitely am due to my diet of mostly veggies) can plateau weightloss due to the body entering into starvation mode which means instead of burning fat the body holds onto it much like it would for a bear that is going into hibernation for the winter. At first I was a bit scared of eating foods that I know don't help me lose weight (last Sunday I ate eggs, asian noodles, cheese, etc) however the results in weight loss so far are proving to me that calorie spiking once every 7 days may have some merit behind it! Here's what happened:

Sunday morning - 119.2kgs
Sunday ate much more than usual and ate carbs and dairy that I normally wouldn't
Monday morning - 120.0kgs (apparently it's very common to weigh more the day after due to water weight)
Tuesday morning - 118.7kg
Wednesday morning - 118.3kg
Friday morning - 117.6kg

Apparently spiking your caloric intake once a week shakes the body up and reboots your metabolism and makes it burn fat for the rest of the week. Obviously it would only do good if for the other 6 days you are very healthy. Has anyone else had any experience with calorie spiking? I will do it again this Sunday and see if I get the same results next week.

What you are saying is quite true, if you body gets used to a certain way you do things it will platea, the same is also said for exercising, if you walk the same path every time, your body will get used to it and it won't work as hard, you need to vary exercise as well as food.

What you say makes sense, NewMe. I think I might try that calorie spiking and see if I can increase my weight loss. Your results are great.

Hi Stacey. You should get the book and have a read, it's got so many interesting facts. Just make sure you only calorie spike no more than one day a week. I started using extra virgin coconut oil today as well, I've done a lot of research on it and it sounds like a wonder food. I'm going to use it daily as a moisturiser (apparently clears the skin and heals stretch marks to an amazing degree) and also will play around with having a tablespoon of it to eat each day. I don't want to eat too much of it because it is very high in fat but there are many people that say the type of fat it has actually aids in weight loss. I will start slow and small with it though so not to increase my fat intake by too much incase it has negative affects on my weight loss. I'm having so much fun getting healthy again. I can't wait to see the physical results in a few months time :)

I hope you've all had fantastic losses this week xx

It's healthier than the regular oil we use.  Best for pasta and salad.

Had my official Week 3 weigh-in this morning and the scales showed 117.6kg again which I am very happy with! I didn't have a bowel movement this morning so I imagine I would be a bit lighter if I had, and also it is that time of the month for me and apparently we hold on to a bit of water weight around this time. Hoping next week is even more fantastic! Now to enjoy my calorie spiking today! Have a fantastic week everyone, good luck with your results!!

Starting weight: 124.1kg
Week 1 weight: 120.1kg (4kg loss)
Week 2 weight: 119.2kg (0.9kg loss)
Week 3 weight: 117.6kg (1.6kg loss)
Total weight loss: 6.5kg
